Private Classes

If you feel nervous to try yoga in a group class, a private yoga lesson may be a perfect entry into the world of yoga. Spend an hour with one of our caring and knowledgeable teachers to help you build confidence and find an approach that works for your body.

If you have been practicing yoga for a while and feel like you’ve hit a plateau, a private lesson can identify areas for improvement and find ways to progress in your practice. Our experienced teachers can address your questions, give you strategies to get more out of the classes you attend, and help you create or re-invigorate a home practice.

Students who have taken private yoga lessons with us have reported feeling more confident in group classes, more empowered to practice at home, and inspired to deepen their practice.

I began private lessons because I was worried that I wouldn’t feel comfortable in a typical movement class. It started as a temporary “let’s try this until I feel comfortable enough to do it in public”. Attending private lessons on a regular basis allows me to focus on my own journey, tailored to my body’s unique strengths and challenges. In addition, working with Emma has allowed me to enter into a new relationship with my body and mind. I’ve been able to slowly challenge decades of toxic messages I hear about my (“large”, “fat”) body from mainstream media on a regular basis. I was hesitant to spend the money, but I can honestly say this is the best investment I’ve made in myself in over 20 years.

I was introduced to QSY by my wife, but I was very hesitant to join in regular classes as I had no prior experience with yoga. My wife discussed this with teachers at QSY and in turn gave me four private lessons for my birthday last year. The private lesson allowed me to master the basics of yoga and really helped me to fit into the regular classes once the 4 lessons were completed. In addition, the private lessons gave me insight into what I could do with my limitation/restrictions I experience due to my knee replacement surgeries. I would highly recommend private lessons for any beginner looking at yoga or anyone who is experiencing difficulty following portions of the regular classes.

Lastly, following recent surgery, I am taking private lessons which are more focused (pelvic floor) than the regular yoga classes. This again has allowed me the option of focusing on my limitations and progress through my surgical recovery more effectively. I am anxious to return to regular classes and feel that the private lessons will allow me to get there quicker than without the help of this targeted yoga instruction.
