Rather than focusing on an appearance of 6-pack abs or dramatic yoga backbends, in this course you’ll work towards feeling good in your body, moving with more confidence and fluidity, and breathing easier with more space in your trunk. Together, we’ll explore movements and training options that will bring you better awareness, stability, control, and a more articulate range of motion through the core and spine.

You may have heard that the core is a responsive unit, but what if it’s forgotten how to respond, or gotten stuck in a particular habit? Come expand your options! You’ll get to learn, feel, and become a lot more intentional and responsive throughout the central structures of your body. Integrating modalities like yoga, strength training, the Tensegrity Repair Series, and mobility, participants will add some key tools to their toolbox to feel strong and bendy!

Leslie is passionate about mobility work as a way to increase freedom of movement and confidence in everyday life. She’ll be drawing upon her studies of yoga with Yoga Detour, of mobility with Functional Range Conditioning and Kinstretch, and her years of strength training both solo and with the coaches at MoveStong. Leslie is fascinated by the way human bodies work, and loves to share her curiosity and enthusiasm with her students.

By registering for the IN-STUDIO option, you may choose to attend each session in-person or online. This unique class is for anyone who is on a path to recovering from physical or emotional trauma. The class aims to give participants tools to understand how trauma affects the body, to move through embodied trauma (trauma stored in the body) through movement. Trauma may seem like a loaded word, but it is something that affects many of us through major losses, accidents, violence, or other major life stresses.

Embodiment for Trauma Recovery consists of very gentle movements, simple postures from hatha yoga, and breath awareness. The classes are aimed at building a trauma survivor’s sense of empowerment and cultivating a more positive relationship to one's body. The class focuses on internal sensing and reclaiming choice in your body, and is less about form or technique. Absolutely everything in the class is optional, and the practice is beginner-friendly.

Based on the evidence-based methodology of Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga. Embodiment for Trauma Recovery is a group movement class. While this class is taught by a Registered Psychotherapist, it is not group therapy. As an adjunctive therapy, it is not intended as a replacement for working with a qualified therapist. Participants are encouraged to seek adjunctive treatment with a therapist to support the process of healing as needed.

Course Format: This course includes 6 interactive, weekly sessions offered in a hybrid (virtual and in-person) format. Prenatal yoga will leave you feeling strong, relaxed, and more connected to yourself and your baby. Our classes go beyond simply modifying yoga poses. With an emphasis on strength, breathing, gentle stretches and community connection, this course can help prepare your mind and body for birth and parenting.

Through yoga asana, students can safely encounter strong sensations, and alongside that, discover the coping skills that work best for you and can later be applied to moments of physical or mental discomfort, like during labour and early parenthood. This mindful approach to yoga practice will leave you feeling ready for whatever lies ahead in pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

We empower students to continuously learn about pregnancy, the birthing process and early parenthood. Our practice sessions are grounded in a welcoming and open environment that celebrates the value of community as you explore this current chapter of life. This class is exclusively for pregnant people (not a partners’ class).

Focus on yourself and your own healing after pregnancy or birth. This course is a supportive space to reconnect to your non-pregnant body and your sense of self.

Reacquaint yourself with your post-pregnancy body by strengthening areas that have weakened and easing tension in areas that are overburdened, including your pelvic floor, glutes, hips, abdomen, back, chest, shoulders and neck.

Parenting is overwhelming, so rest assured that you are welcome to show up and connect to the community exactly as you are. This emotionally supportive space is just as much about easing your mind as it is healing your body.

Open to students once you are a minimum 6 weeks postpartum, whether you birthed vaginally or by C-section. There is no maximum time postpartum - it’s never too late to reconnect and heal after pregnancy.

Beginners to yoga and any stage of pregnancy are welcome.

Course Format: This course includes 6 interactive, weekly sessions offered in a hybrid (virtual and in-person) format. By registering for the VIRTUAL option, you will attend all sessions online (via livestream in Zoom). If you prefer to have the option to attend in-person, please register for the IN-STUDIO listing of this course, but be aware that in-person spots are limited.

Course participants will also receive access to a virtual Course Portal that includes recordings of the weekly sessions, and a set of on-demand video practices specially selected to complement the course. To allow plenty of time to explore these offerings, all participants will have access to the Course Portal for 90 days.

Courses scheduled on Saturday, Sunday or Monday will not meet during holiday long weekends.

Most adults have lost healthy mobility in their feet from a lifetime of wearing conventional footwear and lack of natural movement. This can cause issues in your ankles, knees, hips, and back. But, your feet are the foundation for whole body alignment and healthy movement patterns. One quarter of all your bones and joints are in your feet - they are exquisitely designed for weight-bearing and balance when they are moving properly.

In this workshop you’ll learn key ways to free your feet through exercises and self-massage techniques that restore flexibility and strength. You’ll also learn how to make well-informed choices about footwear, including how and why you might transition to minimalist shoes.

Meditation is a powerful tool to grow your resilience. Exploring it with others reminds us that we are not alone on this journey. In this course you’ll discover mindful movements and stillness practices that suit your temperament, be invited to self-reflect, share with others, and grow in your ability to befriend yourself through some big feelings without toxic positivity.

Together, we’ll explore the key elements of resilience and find techniques that work best for us. We’ll cultivate sensitivity and compassion to tune into the messages of our bodies, recognize our own patterns and see how the stresses of our times show up differently for each of us. All techniques will be approached through a lens of self-compassion, with the intention of learning to self-soothe and build a more robust capacity in our nervous systems.

Mindful movement and meditation beginners are welcome! Be sure to have a notebook handy and something to write with for times of self-reflection. Danette teaches with a trauma-aware and neurodivergence-aware perspective.
